Thermal Attack —

Thermal attacks, also known as "thermal imaging hacks," are a type of cyberattack employing specialized cameras to detect the heat signatures left behind by a user's fingers on a keypad or touchscreen device. This hacking method is based on the fact that our fingers leave traces of heat on the surfaces they touch, which thermal imaging cameras can detect.‍

Hackers can obtain sensitive information such as PIN codes, passwords, or other confidential data by employing thermal attacks. And once such login information is on hand, criminals can gain unauthorized access to secure systems and misappropriate all data—even funds.‍

Thermal attacks became widespread mainly due to the commercial availability and ease of use of thermal cameras. Besides, as computer vision algorithms can analyze the heat signatures captured by such cameras, hackers can quickly identify and exploit any weaknesses in a system's security.
