Doxing  —

A degree of social anonymity is an expectation in online spheres. The amount of information individuals or companies reveal should be up to them, thereby providing a sense of control.

However, when sensitive information connected to a person or organization is published by a third party, it can be deeply destabilizing. This is known as doxing.

The term derived from early 90s hacker culture, and encompasses the aggregation practices of large social media, as well as the publication of private information which has been fraudulently obtained then distributed, usually with malicious intent. The former is broadly considered above board, while the latter can have legal consequences.
